In Autism problem, there is no reason, there is no cure, but there is a hope.

Nowadays, Autism Awareness becomes one of most popular social issue. American

Psychiatric Association defines Autism as a brain development disorder characterized

by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive

behavior. Autism is not a disease or virus which can spread to anyone else, instead

of that, children who get autism should be accepted and helped by society and

government in medical and education aspect. What can be done to raise the awareness

of autism? There are a lot of things that we can do to raise the awareness and

acceptance from society to those autistic children.

People all have hidden talents, even autistic children. Maybe a lot of people do

not know yet that early intervention and quick handling to autistic children can

make those children develop and even have some accomplishments such as, writing,

painting, dancing and playing music. With that fact, Autism care community can hold

Expo as one big event that can raise awareness of autism. The Expo will start with

the talent show like singing and dancing in kind of mini concert from autistic

children. Gallery of painting or drawing will be exhibit to visitor of the expo.

Everything in the expo will show to other that autistic children can do something.

It also provides essential information and additional section with information

booths that will give parents guidance and information how to capture autistic

children’s talent.

Autism Awareness Festival will be the best media to raise awareness, there will be

talk show, discussion, and sharing experience. It can be the media where parents of

autistic children can meet some expert to talk about autism problem to educate

families about various treatment options for autism. Parents can share their

experience of their children, and some expert then will suggest and advise about

what to do to handle autistic children. Here, parents can ask about everything when

they feel really confuse about what to do firstly when they find out that they have

autistic children and what to do next to teach and develop their children. People

who came to the event will get a lot of information of school, clinic, therapy

center, seminar and workshop related to autistic children.

Lastly, government can also take concern with make a specific institution like

Autism Awareness Foundation which responsible as the center of Autism. This

institution will help parents that have problem with autistic children to know what

they need to do. This community also will give support mentally to the parents and

physically to the autistic children. This foundation can help government look up to

the problem and see that autism is becoming a serious problem. Government should

know what reasons that can causes autism problem. And take it as serious problem

that need to be solved. The institution will be the home base of autism.

Basically instead of just autistic children’s parents, all people need to be aware

of autism problem. Just start learning and become aware of autism then support them.
